Yours truly, the blogging beauty queen has had QUITE an exciting adventure this week!!!

SECOND – Our guest of the day on the brand new RPN NEWSWATCH was Efren Penaflorida, CNN HERO OF THE YEAR 2009!!!
In my entire 10-year-career in TV news, I have never ever seen TV reporters, production staff and news writers go gaga over a tv guest. But they certainly did when Efren Penaflorida walked into our studio at Broadcast City. It’s hard to believe that these journalists who have ’seen it all’ could drool all over this simple guy. Even I joined in the drooling action and enjoyed every salivatory second of it!
I think this is a testament to the guilelessness of Efren Penaflorida’s heroism. He’s not in it for the money or the power; he’s in it for love of God, country and people and journalists can SEE and FEEL that for once, they’ve got a true blue HERO.
I could tell Efren Penaflorida still wasn’t used to the attention but he was so gracious and allowed us to drool to our hearts’ content and take hundreds of pictures with him.
THIRD – I got to corner Kuya Ef and squeeze out a short interview with a greeting for ALL OUR Definitely Filipino Readers! Well, okay, I didn’t do the interview but my hubby Ron Titular did the honors as I was busy reviewing my newscopy.

Just a thought… I hope nobody kills me for this but I can’t help but compare Efren Penaflorida to our beloved Pambansang Kamao Manny Pacquiao. Is there anybody else out there who is guilty of this? I know it’s not fair as they’re heroes of a different kind and both have done superb things but I think Manny Pacquiao has A LOT to learn from Kuya Efren Penaflorida. Actually, WE ALL DO!
Like for instance: you don’t have to enter the world of politics to serve the nation; you can run out with little a Kariton, a few books and a BIG heart and change the lives of people. What do you think?

THanks for your thoughts – I feel guilty for comparing our heroes but somehow my all-too-human brain keeps doing so. Nevertheless, I love Manny Pacquiao and all he stands for and I dream of meeting him one day. I already have a list of questions to ask him, hehehe… inspite of my love for our Pambansang Kamao, I would not vote for him unless he ran for Baranggay Captain or Counsilor. That would be a nice and humble place to start and a good way to see if he is really cut out for political leadership. But, as you said, we gotta respect his choice and of course the choice of the people. If they vote him in, there you go!
